Ukraine In Trouble

(DCWatchdog.com) – Sounding the alarm, the White House has declared that congressionally-approved funds for US military aid to pro-Western Ukraine will end by the end of 2023, which would weaken tremendously the victim of the full-scale military aggression by Putin’s Russia.

After a partial invasion targeting Crimea and Donbas in 2014, Moscow launched a full-scale war on Ukraine in February 2022, apparently seeking to restore the former Soviet empire.

An outgunned Ukraine has surprised the world by resisting successfully and even counterattacking, but it managed to do so thanks to the massive military aid from the United States and other Western nations.

On Monday, the White House said US financial support for Ukraine was on the brink of depletion.

According to a report by The Financial Times cited by Breitbart News, Shalanda Young, the White House budget director, conveyed this urgent message in a letter to congressional leaders.

The administration is seeking an additional $61 billion for Ukraine, as part of a broader $106 billion emergency funding request.

This request, made by President Joe Biden in October, aims to provide further support to Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and the US-Mexican border.

“Without congressional action, by the end of the year, we will run out of resources to procure more weapons and equipment for Ukraine and to provide equipment from US military stocks,” Young cautioned.

“There is no magical pot of funding available to meet this moment. We are out of money — and nearly out of time,” she stressed.

Biden’s request for $106 billion in emergency funding is currently stalled in Congress, with Republicans demanding massive funding to secure the US-Mexican border.

In her letter, Young emphasized the dire consequences of abandoning Ukraine.

“Cutting off the flow of US weapons and equipment will kneecap Ukraine on the battlefield, not only putting at risk the gains Ukraine has made, but increasing the likelihood of Russian military victories,” she wrote.

The warning from the White House coincides with efforts by European Union member states to finalize a budget deal in Brussels, which includes a proposal to allocate €50 billion to Ukraine.

“If Ukraine’s economy collapses, they will not be able to keep fighting, full stop. Putin understands this well, which is why Russia has made destroying Ukraine’s economy central to its strategy — which you can see in its attacks against Ukraine’s grain exports and energy infrastructure,” the White House official warned.
