(DCWatchdog.com) – The left’s treacherous attempt to cheat the nation by preventing Donald Trump from running in the 2024 election has hit a massive new roadblock after a Michigan judge has just ruled against a lawsuit to keep the former president from the state’s primary ballot over “insurrection” claims.
Tuesday’s ruling in Michigan is the second instance within a week where a state court has chosen not to remove Trump from a primary ballot due to the insurrection provision of the 14th Amendment – after a Minnesota judge reached a similar decision last week.
In this case, Court of Claims Judge James Redford dismissed the notion that Trump’s involvement in the January 6, 2021, events at the US Capitol necessitates his ineligibility for the presidency.
In his judgment, Redford emphasized that Trump had complied with state laws to qualify for the primary ballot and, therefore, could not be removed by the court.
Furthermore, Judge Redford opined that determining whether Trump is disqualified under the Constitutional clause barring those who engaged in insurrection should be a decision for Congress.
He stated that deciding on an event as a rebellion or insurrection and determining participation is better suited for Congress than a single judicial officer.
“[A judge] cannot in any manner or form possibly embody the represented qualities of every citizen of the nation — as does the House of Representatives and the Senate,” Redford reasoned.
The leftist group Free Speech For People, which has initiated 14th Amendment lawsuits in several states, plans to appeal to the Michigan Court of Appeals.
“We are disappointed by the trial court’s decision, and we’re appealing it immediately,” said Ron Fein, Legal Director of Free Speech For People.
In response, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung criticized the ongoing efforts to disqualify Trump, describing them as “un-Constitutional left-wing fantasies” and an attempt to override the election process.
“Each and every one of these ridiculous cases have LOST because they are all un-Constitutional left-wing fantasies orchestrated by monied allies of the Biden campaign seeking to turn the election over to the courts and deny the American people the right to choose their next president,” Cheung stated.
Similar lawsuits have been filed in other states, portraying Trump as an instigator of the January 6 events supposedly to prevent Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential victory.
