Hunter Biden was supposed to give a deposition on Wednesday at a closed-door session of GOP-led House committees after he was subpoenaed last month in the congressional investigation into his father, President Joe Biden.

Instead of testifying, he addressed the media outside the US Capitol, responding to inquiries regarding his business dealings and categorically denying his father’s financial involvement in these matters.

“I’m proud of my legal career and business career. I’m proud of my time serving on a dozen different boards of directors. And I’m proud of my efforts to forge global business relationships,” Hunter Biden stated, as cited by CNBC.

He rejected any allegations that Joe Biden was involved in his foreign business ventures.

“Let me state as clearly as I can. My father was not financially involved in my business — not as a practicing lawyer, not as a board member of Burisma, not in my partnership with a Chinese private businessman, not in my investments at home nor abroad, and certainly not as an artist,” the first son declared.

“There’s no evidence to support the allegations that my father was financially involved in my business because it did not happen,” he added.

Hunter Biden then accused House Republicans and their allies of manipulating facts and misrepresenting his personal information in their investigation of the Biden family.

“They have distorted the facts, by cherry-picking lines from a bank statement, manipulating texts I sent, editing the testimony of my friends and former business partners, and misstating personal information that was stolen from me,” he claimed.

The president’s son reiterated his stance on testifying, stating he would only do so publicly, a condition that Republicans have already dismissed.

Following Hunter Biden’s refusal to comply with the subpoena, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) and House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) announced plans to initiate contempt of Congress proceedings against him.

“We will not provide special treatment because his last name is Biden,” the House committee leaders declared in a joint statement.

Comer, Jordan, and other Republican legislators are spearheading an investigation into whether President Biden improperly benefited from his family’s business activities.

They have accused Hunter Biden of being untruthful about his role in his family’s financial ventures.
