Feds Gave Abortionists WHAT?

(DCWatchdog.com) – Striking new revelations have just shown that radical pro-abortion leftists have been showered with taxpayer money as abortion advocates received nearly $2 billion from the US government in just three years, almost all of which went to Planned Parenthood.

According to a recent report from the Government Accountability Office, advocacy groups for abortion received $1.89 billion in federal funding between the fiscal years 2019 and 2021.

The report was requested by US Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and US Rp. Chris Smith (R-NJ) in January 2022.

Planned Parenthood received $1.78 billion during these three years, National Review reports.

This funding comprised $1.53 billion from Medicaid, Medicare, and CHIP reimbursements and $148.5 million in grants and cooperative agreements.

Additionally, $90.41 million in loans were forgiven under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).

The PPP was originally designed to aid small businesses with under 500 employees. However, more than three dozen Planned Parenthood affiliates received PPP loans despite warnings of their ineligibility due to the significant oversight and funding from Planned Parenthood’s corporate office.

During these three years, Planned Parenthood was responsible for 1.11 million abortions.

Under the Obama Administration, Title X funding was a significant source of federal funding for Planned Parenthood, with $61 million utilized in 2016 alone.

However, the Trump Administration’s 2019 mandate required all Title X funding recipients to refrain from abortion referrals and maintain separation from abortion providers.

Planned Parenthood chose not to comply with these conditions, leading to a forfeiture of Title X funding under Trump’s presidency. The GAO found that this decision caused most affiliates to discontinue using Title X grants in 2020 and 2021.

Under the Biden administration, the Department of Health and Human Services increased its financial obligations to Planned Parenthood by 373%, from $5.71 million to $27.06 million.

The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), with member associations in 146 countries, received $2.03 million in federal funding over the same period.

In 2022, IPPF provided 5 million abortion-related services, including 14,000 chemical abortions.

Highlighting public opinion, Blackburn and Smith’s offices referred to a January 2023 Marist poll indicating 78% of Americans oppose using taxpayer dollars for funding abortions abroad.

“It is appalling that big abortion providers are continuing to receive billions of dollars in federal taxpayer funding… The American people want their tax dollars spent responsibly and in line with our nation’s values — not on the Left’s abortion-on-demand agenda,” Senator Blackburn commented.
