Voters Tell Her Yes

(DCWatchdog.com) – After switching congressional districts to avoid losing her seat in the House, Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) made a huge victory in a crowded Republican primary.

Endorsed by former president Donald Trump, Boebert defeated Colorado GOP contenders Deborah Flora, Jerry Sonnenberg, Mike Lynch, Richard Holtorf and Peter Yu to fill the seat of former Representative Ken Buck, who decided not to seek reelection and left Congress earlier this year.

In addition, the incumbent congresswoman is almost certain to win the general election in November, given that Colorado’s fourth congressional district is a Republican stronghold.

Elected in 2020, Boebert currently represents the third congressional district in western and southern Colorado. Facing a strong Democratic challenger who could have unseated her, she moved to a more conservative area in northern Colorado to secure her place in the House.

Moreover, Boebert said she made the switch because Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Barbra Streisand were funding her Democratic opponent, Adam Frisch, accusing them of “trying to buy” the state’s third congressional district. Boebert narrowly defeated Frisch in the 2022 midterms.

“We cannot lose the third, and Colorado’s Fourth District is hungry for an unapologetic defender of freedom with a proven track record of standing strong for conservative principles,” Boebert said in December. “We have to protect our majority in the House, win the Senate, and win the presidency.”

Boebert chose not to run in the fourth district’s special election, as that would have required her to give up her current seat—a risky move given the slim Republican majority in the House.

In the GOP primary race for Boebert’s current seat, Republican front-runner Jeff Hurd defeated Ron Hanks on Tuesday night.

Hanks was boosted by a $400,000 ad campaign from a Colorado Democratic PAC and Frisch, who viewed him as the weaker Republican opponent.

Over the past year, Boebert has faced unflattering headlines related to her personal life.

In September, she was kicked out of a Denver theater for vaping, disturbing audience members, and groping her date during a performance of the Beetlejuice musical. Months before, she filed for divorce from her husband of 18 years.
