Michelle Obama Says No

Barack Obama

(DCWatchdog.com) – In a desperate effort to “win” a seat in the White House, some Democrats have considered first lady Michelle Obama as a potential alternative for their party’s nomination given that the polls indicate former President Donald Trump leads Joe Biden in the race.

Yet, Michelle Obama’s office clarified to NBC News that she “will not be running for president” this year.

Obama’s Communications Director Crystal Carson, emphasized, “As former First Lady Michelle Obama has expressed several times over the years, she will not be running for president.” Carson conveyed Mrs. Obama’s support for Biden and VP Kamala Harris’ re-election campaign.

While liberals highly respect former President Barack Obama and wife Michelle, discussions about the former first lady’s potential candidacy stir interest across both left and right political spectrums.

A recent Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) straw poll indicated that 56% of voters believe Biden will not be the next Democratic candidate while the 47% suggest Michelle Obama might be.

In September, Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) predicted “the Democrat kingmakers [will] jettison Joe Biden and parachute in Michelle Obama” at the Democratic convention. Since then, Biden’s poll numbers have kept falling continuously.

In December, The Wall Street Journal reported that Barack Obama “feels that Democrats very well could lose” the upcoming elections although he acknowledged it will be a close race.

The latest CBS News/YouGov poll showed Trump leads the race over the 81-year-old Democrat by 4 points in a hypothetical general election matchup.

Biden faces scrutiny over his age, the economy, and his immigration and foreign policies, along with a House investigation into alleged influence related to his family’s foreign business dealings.

In turn of these polls, Michelle Obama becomes a preferred figure among those who believe she can replace Biden on the Democratic Party’s ticket. However, NBC News sources suggested that Michelle Obama plans to help the Biden campaign, likely with less involvement than her husband.

The former first lady who is reluctant to fully return to politics, will focus on other commitments.
