(DCWatchdog.com) – In a laughable turn of events, Hunter Biden is finally getting what he has asked for, as House Republicans have directly called his bluff and have now invited him to give public testimony in his father’s impeachment probe – as the scandalous first son previously demanded.
House Republicans are extending Hunter Biden an opportunity to testify publicly on Capitol Hill, following his previous requests to that end, The Daily Caller reports.
James Comer, the Chairman of the Oversight Committee, formally invited Hunter Biden to share his testimony on March 20 alongside former business colleagues Devon Archer, Tony Bobulinski, and Jason Galanis.
The hearing is titled “Influence Peddling: Examining Joe Biden’s Abuse of Public Office” and aims to scrutinize the alleged involvement of President Biden in his son’s international business activities.
“Given his repeated calls for a public hearing, we fully expect him to appear for a scheduled hearing on [March 20] alongside his former business associates,” a source closely involved told The Caller.
Previously, in November, the House Oversight Committee subpoenaed Hunter Biden to partake in a private deposition about his foreign business engagements.
Instead, Hunter Biden held a press conference outside the Capitol on December 13, coinciding with the day he was supposed to attend the closed-door deposition.
At this press event, he refuted any involvement by his father in his business dealings and voiced his willingness to testify in a public setting, a proposition his attorney had earlier suggested to the committee.
Additionally, Hunter Biden denounced the Republicans for initiating an impeachment inquiry against his father, President Joe Biden.
“Evidence obtained in the House of Representatives’ impeachment inquiry reveals Joe Biden knew about, participated in, and benefited from his family cashing in on the Biden name. Multiple witnesses have testified Joe Biden allowed his family to sell him as ‘the brand’ around the world to enrich the Biden family,” stated Comer in a release.
He further accused Joe Biden of engaging with almost all of his son’s foreign business partners, attending dinners with foreign oligarchs who purportedly directed millions of dollars to his son, conversing over speakerphone with his son’s international business associates with assurances of goodwill towards his son, and even meeting with a Chinese business partner of his son over coffee.
He condemned these alleged actions as corrupt and called for accountability in light of what he described as a “pay-to-play” scheme involving the Bidens.
During his testimony on February 28, Hunter Biden claimed he couldn’t recall specifics of his foreign business dealings and meetings at least 29 times.
“I am here today to provide the committees with the one uncontestable fact that should end the false premise of this inquiry: I did not involve my father in my business, not while I was a practicing lawyer, not in my investments or transactions, domestic or international, not as a board member, and not as an artist, never,” the first son alleged.
