In a striking development, President Trump has hinted at deporting Elon Musk to South Africa as their relationship deteriorates over the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

The once-close alliance between the two powerful figures has suddenly erupted into public conflict, with Trump suggesting his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) might “go back and eat Elon.”

The clash began when Musk, who became a naturalized American citizen in 2002, publicly criticized Trump’s proposed legislation.

Musk called the bill “insane” on his social media platform X, claiming it would increase the national debt by $3.3 trillion over the next decade and remove funding for enforcement of federal contempt of court orders.

Trump didn’t take the criticism lightly. When asked about potentially deporting Musk, the President responded, “We’ll have to take a look,” and suggested DOGE should investigate the government subsidies Musk’s companies receive.

Trump pulled no punches when discussing Musk’s business operations.

“Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa,” the President stated, emphasizing that Tesla and SpaceX rely heavily on government support.

“DOGE is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon,” he added.

The feud appears to center on Trump’s elimination of electric vehicle subsidies.

“Elon’s very upset that the EV mandate is gonna be terminated. Not everybody wants an electric car. I don’t want an electric car,” Trump explained.

The President ended the “electric vehicle mandate” on his first day in office, directly impacting Musk’s Tesla business.

Musk, meanwhile, has escalated the conflict by threatening to start a new political party if the bill passes.

He’s also vowed to support Republican opponents of the bill, particularly Rep. Thomas Massie, and has promised to target lawmakers who support the legislation in future elections.

“Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame! They will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth,” Elon Musk declared.

The deterioration of the Trump-Musk relationship is particularly striking given their previous alliance.

Musk had shattered fundraising records for the GOP and pledged significant financial support to Trump’s political efforts.

He had recently attempted to mend relations with Trump after leaving his White House position.

The market has already responded to the public dispute, with Tesla’s share price declining as the feud continues.

Musk’s companies, especially SpaceX, are heavily reliant on government contracts worth billions, making this conflict potentially devastating for his business empire.

Trump expressed confidence that Republicans would not be swayed by Musk’s threats.

“I don’t think he should be playing that game with me,” the President warned, suggesting he might review the billions in contracts Musk’s companies currently receive.
