(DCWatchdog.com) – President Joe Biden’s White House has declared that the Southern Border is “not open” despite the unchecked influx of millions of illegal immigrants.
During her press briefing on Monday, the declaration came from Biden’s press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre.
“It would be wrong to think that the border is open. It’s not open, and I just want to be very, very clear about that,” the White House official insisted, as cited by Breitbart News.
Nearly 6 million illegal migrants are estimated to have crossed the US border since Biden became president 23 months ago. More than 1 million of those are the so-called gotaways, who entered America undetected, according to estimates by the Customs and Border Protection agency.
Reports say in December, the US has already seen an even more significant influx of illegals, particularly in the El Paso Sector of the US-Mexican border.
Over the past weekend, the sector’s 270-mile border section was crossed by 7,400 migrants, leading the local Democrat administration to declare a state of emergency.
Earlier this month, Biden said he wouldn’t visit the Southern Border because he had “more important things going on.”
The White House press secretary’s comments came as Title 42, the Trump-era policy for expelling illegals on public health grounds, was expected to end on December 21, Wednesday, as per a court order issued by a liberal Washington, DC-based federal judge.
Title 42’s expiration was forecasted to lure even more illegal immigrants to storm America’s Southern Border. More than 2.4 million migrants were expelled from the US in the 2.5 years since the federal government adopted the policy.
However, on Monday, US Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts postponed that by ruling Title 42 would remain in place during the arguments in a lawsuit filed by GOP-led states.
As the policy was expected to end, Karine Jean-Pierre disputed the forecasts that a surge of illegal immigrant arrivals was coming.
“The fact that the removal of Title 42 is happening in just a day or two doesn’t mean the border is open,” Biden’s aide said.
She argued that it would be “misinformation” to state that crossing the border would be easier after Title 42’s lifting.
“We are doing the smuggler’s job if we spread misinformation,” declared President Joe Biden’s press secretary.
The report notes that Jean-Pierre kept referring to the border as “not open” and never explicitly said it was “closed” to illegal immigrants.
“We will continue to fully enforce our immigration laws in a fair, orderly, and humane manner,” the White House official concluded.
