(DCWatchdog.com) – The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a dire warning for 2025, spotlighting a high-threat environment due to illegals with terrorism ties exploiting the current border crisis.
See the tweet below.
The assessment predicts that individuals with terrorist connections and criminal backgrounds will continue to manipulate migrant flows and deficient border security systems.
This circumstance heightens the risk at both the southern and northern U.S. borders.
In the fiscal year 2024, by July, authorities encountered 422 individuals from the Terrorist Screening Data Set at U.S. borders.
A breakdown reveals 283 encounters at the U.S.-Canada border and 139 at the U.S.-Mexico border, reflecting a universal challenge. This figure underscores the necessity for comprehensive strategies addressing border security vulnerabilities.
Beyond traditional points of entry, the immigration system represents another vulnerability for terrorism-linked individuals seeking access to the homeland.
The DHS reported that some illegals have gained entry without identification, complicating vetting processes.
Such lapses pose a clear threat to domestic air travel, as insufficient identification checks can allow individuals on terror watchlists to board flights undetected.
“The Department of Homeland Security warned Wednesday that the threat environment in the US will “remain high” in the coming year, with migrants with “terrorism ties” contributing to the elevated level,” the New York Post said.
The report further predicts that the terrorism threat will remain elevated with concerns regarding foreign violent extremists and potential responses to the 2024 election cycle.
Notably, terror groups like ISIS and al Qaeda continue to target the U.S., leveraging Middle East conflicts to galvanize attacks.
The continuing sponsorship of terrorism by Iran, targeting individuals in the U.S., remains a critical concern.
Moreover, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas emphasized collaboration across various partners and the essential role of the DHS workforce in safeguarding public safety.
As the threat landscape evolves, swift and decisive action is needed to fortify defenses and uphold American values.
The department’s 2025 Homeland Threat Assessment warned:
“Over the next year, we expect some individuals with terrorism ties and some criminal actors will continue their efforts to exploit migration flows and the complex border security environment to enter the United States.”
The geopolitical landscape paints an urgent picture. While the threat of terrorism demands immediate action, addressing other concerns, such as foreign digital interference and evolving global terrorist tactics, is paramount.
