(DCWatchdog.com) – In a back and forth dialogue about abortion between United States Senator Tim Scott, a South Carolina Republican, and United States Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, an exchange took place that will long be remembered in the halls of the United States Capitol.
You can watch the video of the memorable exchange further down this post.
At one point, Yellen, who was handpicked for her position by President Joe Biden, said:
“In many cases, abortions are of teenage women – particularly low-income and often black — who aren’t in a position to be able to care for children, have unexpected pregnancies, and it deprives them of the ability often to continue their education, to later participate in the workforce. So, there is a spillover to labor force participation. And it means that children will grow up in poverty and do worse themselves. This is not harsh; this is the truth.”
Senator Scott, the only black Republican United States Senator, while intimating that he’s thankful his impoverished, black mother didn’t abort him, responded to Yellen, saying:
“I’ll just simply say that as a guy raised by a black woman in abject poverty, I am thankful to be here as a United States Senator.”
