The incident occurred just after 6 a.m. on Sunday at Cottman Avenue, directly beneath the I-95 overpass.

The entirety of the highway has been closed off from traffic between the Woodhaven and Aramingo exits.

Emergency teams are trying to extinguish the fire, but there is currently no information about possible injuries.

The exact contents of the burning tanker truck and the cause of the fire remain unknown.

The blaze has led to a series of manhole explosions in the vicinity, and residents are being advised to keep away from the area.

Authorities have indicated that the significant damage will likely affect the region for an extended period.

“Today’s going to be a long day. Obviously, with 95 northbound gone and southbound questionable, it’s going to be even longer,” stated Dominick Mireles from the Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management.
