(DCWatchdog.com) – The words may seem gentile coming from Maryland Governor Larry Hogan – a Republican who has won twice in a deep blue state – but what he said will certainly be taken as a threat by former President Donald Trump and his supporters if Hogan follows through and runs against Trump in the 2024 Republican Presidential Primary Election.
As you can see in the video of Hogan further down this post, Hogan believes Trump is not polling well with Republicans and that he, Hogan, is better suited to where the majority of Americans are in their political beliefs and desires.
He even inferred that Trump and Trump’s supporters are insane.
When asked by Jake Tapper of CNN, “What makes you think that there’s a lane for a moderate-ish, blue state, anti-Trump, sane Republican like you when you look at your party right now?” Hogan replied:
“I consider myself a commonsense conservative. I have been a lifelong Republican. I believe that that’s where most people in America are. About 70% of the people in America are completely frustrated with politics on both sides – Republicans and Democrats. The latest CNN poll came out; right now only about 50% of the Republicans would like to see Donald Trump run again. I believe that there is a pretty large lane of sane Republicans, and they’re looking for a voice.”
So far, Trump has not responded to Hogan. But, if history is a guide, he will soon.
