(DCWatchdog.com) – Joe Biden stunned journalists and the audience as he concluded a gun control speech by inexplicably stating, “God save the Queen, man.”
You can see the video of his weird behavior at the bottom of this post.
During the same address that he delivered to the National Safer Communities Summit in Connecticut last Friday, Biden claimed AR-pistol stabilizer braces allowed pistols to shoot bigger caliber bullets and said people could be held liable for the actions of thieves who steal their cars, The New York Post notes in a report.
At the end of his speech at the University of Hartford’s campus, the president said there would be a storm, so he couldn’t shake hands with everybody.
“Is that the truth? Now, do not make a lie – as that scene in the John Wayne movie – don’t make me a dog-faced, lying, pony-soldier. I will stand in front of each section – no, I really mean it – if you can see the camera, they can see you. It is the least consequential part of this whole meeting for you, I promise,” Biden declared.
“All right. God Save the Queen, man,” he then quipped.
Perplexed conservative pundits have dwelled on the meaning of Biden’s speech ending in numerous social media and news outlet commentaries.
“Several of you have asked me why he might have said that. I have no idea. Other poolers likewise have no idea,” wrote Todd Gillman of the Dallas Morning News in a presidential pool report.
Later the same day, the deputy White House press secretary Olivia Dalton only said the president “was commenting to someone in the crowd” without further clarification.
The Post explains that “God Save the Queen” was the UK’s anthem under Queen Elizabeth II. As she passed away in September and was succeeded by her son, Charles III, the British anthem was changed to “God Save the King.”
Biden’s new baffling moment was compared to his gaffe last September when he asked, “Where’s Jackie?” while searching for the late Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-IN) in the audience even though he had mourned her death a month earlier.
After that, Biden’s press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claimed the president didn’t misspeak but had Walorksi “top of mind.”
