Ultra-Lib Sup. Ct. Justice SLAMS Court (Video)

(DCWatchdog.com) – In a seeming fit of helpless leftist anger, US Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, an ultra-liberal, has voiced her concerns this week regarding the court’s ruling on presidential immunity, which she claims was designed to shield Donald Trump from legal action.

The decision, rendered by a 6-3 majority of the Court’s conservatives, establishes that presidents possess immunity from criminal prosecution for acts performed in their official capacity and directed further examination and analysis to a lower court.

“I was concerned about a system that appeared to provide immunity for one individual under one set of circumstances, when we have a criminal justice system that had ordinarily treated everyone the same,” Jackson disclosed in an interview with CBS Evening News anchor Norah O’Donnell.

Chief Justice John Roberts, in the majority opinion, asserted that Trump’s interactions with Attorney General William Barr and other officials regarding supposed voter fraud are considered within his official duties, thereby granting him immunity from legal consequences.

“Under our constitutional structure of separated powers, the nature of Presidential power entitles a former President to absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for actions within his conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority. And he is entitled to at least presumptive immunity from prosecution for all his official acts. There is no immunity for unofficial acts,” Roberts explained.

He also responded to the dissenting opinions in the case, characterizing them as overly alarmist.

“As for the dissents, they strike a tone of chilling doom that is wholly disproportionate to what the Court actually does today—conclude that immunity extends to official discussions between the President and his Attorney General, and then remand to the lower courts to determine ‘in the first instance’ whether and to what extent Trump’s remaining alleged conduct is entitled to immunity,” Roberts wrote.

In her dissent, Jackson articulated her alarm that the Court has, for the first time, suggested that the most influential official in the U.S. could, under certain yet undetermined conditions, operate above the law.

Following the Supreme Court’s verdict, Trump’s legal team filed an appeal against the special counsel Jack Smith’s criminal prosecution of the former president for his attempts to reverse the 2020 election outcome, which led to a delay in the proceedings.

This week, Smith presented a revised indictment that narrows his charges against Trump.

Regarding upcoming presidential elections, Jackson feels well-prepared to tackle any associated legal challenges, telling CBS, “I think there are legal issues that arise out of the political process. And so, the Supreme Court has to be prepared to respond – if – if that should be necessary.”
