(DCWatchdog.com) A report reveals that former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who was fired abruptly last Monday, has demonstrated he is enjoying his “retirement” time without saying anything about his plans for the future.
Carlson was with Fox for 14 years and had been hosting “Tucker Carlson Tonight” since 2016 before he was sacked.
At the end of last week, his firing came after Fox agreed to pay nearly $800 million to Dominion Voting Systems in a defamation lawsuit settlement over claims, also featured in Carlson’s show, about machine fraud in the 2020 election.
“Retirement is going great so far,” 53-year-old Tucker Carlson told The Daily Mail on Tuesday night.
At his beach home in Boca Grande, Florida, he met with his right hand and executive producer, Justin Wells, who was also fired, likely “plotting the next career move,” according to the report.
After that, Carlson spent time riding a golf cart at the $5.5 million mansion with his wife and four kids.
“I haven’t eaten dinner with my wife on a weeknight in seven years,” said the fired conservative journalist, as he was “laughing and joking.”
“Appetizers plus entree,” Carlson replied when asked about his plans for the future.
The report quotes sources as saying that the former talk show host’s “Hollywood attorney,” Bryan Freedman, is presently negotiating his exit package with Fox Corporation.
Tucker Carlson’s annual salary was about $20 million, and his contract was renewed in 2021.
His wife, Susan Andrews Carlson, 53, who has been married to the journalist for 32 years, said her husband had no plans for a tell-all interview.
“No, these are private discussions. It’s nothing like that,” she stated.
She complained her husband was fired just 10 minutes before Fox News issued a statement on the matter.
The firing order reportedly arrived “from above” Suzanne Scott, the Fox CEO, meaning it came from Fox Corporation’s chairman, Rupert Murdoch, or his son and co-chairman, Lachlan Murdoch.
The Daily Mail’s sources say Tucker Carlson is unlikely to sign up for a big new project until his exit pay negotiations are concluded.
The report quotes the founders of conservative news site The Daily Wire, Jeremy Boreing, and former Fox host Glenn Beck, who said they would love to employ Carlson.
Tucker Carlson is targeted in a discrimination lawsuit by his former booking producer, Abby Grossberg, who claims she was bullied and subjected to sexist and anti-Semitic insults while working on his show.
Grossberg told MSNBC she was happy Calrson and Wells were fired because they made her life a “living hell.”
