(DCWatchdog.com) – In a bombshell statement by Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate has declared that there has “never been a more dangerous time since the Holocaust” for Jews in the United States.
The former president’s comments on the situation of Jewish Americans came in light of escalating antisemitism following the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel.
Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, asserted this over the weekend after he accused Vice President Kamala Harris of rejecting Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as a potential running mate due to his Jewish heritage.
“They turned him down because he’s Jewish,” Trump proclaimed at his campaign rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, reiterating an accusation he had previously made earlier in the month.
“Now, we can be politically correct and not say that. I could say, ‘Well, they turned him down for various reasons.’ No, no. They turned him down because he’s Jewish,” he added, cited by National Review.
Governor Shapiro has refuted this accusation, stating “antisemitism had no impact” on Harris’s decision to select Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as the Democrat vice-presidential nominee.
Similarly, the Harris campaign dismissed the claim as “absurd” and “absolutely ridiculous and offensive.”
Trump, endeavoring to appeal to Jewish voters, has frequently criticized President Joe Biden for his purportedly tepid response to antisemitism, which has been notably evident during the anti-Israel protests at various college and university campuses this past spring.
Additionally, Trump has been vocal in his criticism of the Biden administration’s prolonged efforts to broker a cease-fire between Israel and the Hamas terrorist group.
The former president argued that any rational Jewish voter should support him over Harris in the upcoming election.
“Any Jewish person that votes for her or a Democrat has to go out and have their head examined,” he remarked, mirroring a statement he made during a Fox & Friends phone interview on August 7.
At that time, a poll indicated that Trump held a narrow one-point lead over Harris among likely Jewish voters in New York, which boasts one of the most significant Jewish demographics in the US.
“If you see what’s happening with Israel and Jewish people right now, there has never been a more dangerous time since the Holocaust if you happen to be Jewish in America. I’m seeing things, I can’t even believe it,” Trump commented on Saturday night.
He anticipated “nothing but riots” in Chicago during the Democratic National Convention, which started on Monday and will conclude on Thursday.
