(DCWatchdog.com) – During a recent Fox News interview, President Donald Trump suggested Ukraine might become Russian and demanded payment for U.S. financial support.
Trump’s remarks have ignited a firestorm of debate about the future of U.S. foreign aid and Ukraine’s sovereignty.
The President, known for his straightforward approach to international relations, did not mince words when discussing the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
“They may make a deal. They may not make a deal. They may be Russian someday, or they may not be Russian someday. But we’re going to have all this money in (Ukraine) and I say, I want it back,” Trump stated.
Trump never states unequivocally that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is unacceptable and here seems to indicate it makes no difference to him if it’s ultimately successful. https://t.co/uSSpJJJo0Y

Trump’s administration has been vocal about the disproportionate financial burden shouldered by the United States in supporting Ukraine.
Since Russia’s invasion in 2022, the U.S. has provided a staggering $65.9 billion in military assistance to Ukraine, along with additional financial and humanitarian aid.
This far exceeds the contributions of European allies despite their geographical proximity to the conflict.
Trump proposed a groundbreaking deal with Ukraine that showcased his business acumen and dedication to American interests.
“I told them that I want the equivalent of like $500 billion worth of rare earth (minerals), and they’ve essentially agreed to do that,” he revealed.
This agreement would recoup American investments and secure vital resources for the U.S. economy and national security.
Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an apparent reference to Moscow’s unilateral declaration in September 2022 that four occupied regions in southeast Ukraine had been annexed.
“The fact that a significant part of Ukraine wants to become Russia, and has already, is a fact,” he remarked.
Trump’s approach starkly contrasts the Biden administration’s policies, which have been criticized for lacking clear objectives and potentially dragging the U.S. into a prolonged conflict.
National Security Advisor Mike Waltz echoed Trump’s sentiments, stating:
“We need to recoup those costs and that is going to be a partnership with the Ukrainians in terms of their natural resources and their oil and gas and also buying ours.”
Moreover, Trump’s administration is actively working on peace plans, with envoy Keith Kellogg preparing ceasefire options.
This proactive stance demonstrates Trump’s commitment to ending the nearly three-year war between Ukraine and Russia, potentially saving countless lives and stabilizing the region.
As the situation develops, Trump’s America First policy is reshaping international relations.
By prioritizing U.S. interests, demanding accountability for aid, and pursuing innovative solutions like the rare earth minerals deal, Trump is setting a new standard for American leadership on the global stage.
