(DCWatchdog.com) – Former President Donald Trump attacked his looming indictment by Manhattan’s Democrat District Attorney Alvin Bragg, describing it as “prosecutorial misconduct” by “radical left maniacs.”
Trump’s latest rebuke of Bragg came during his 2024 presidential campaign rally in Waco, Texas, on Saturday night, which was his first campaign event since reports that he might get arrested emerged in recent weeks.
The Manhattan DA is reportedly seeking to indict Trump for the alleged 2016 payment of $130,000 of “hush money” to porn star Stormy Daniels so she wouldn’t disclose that she and the then-future president had an affair in 2006.
In Waco, Trump told his supporters that the leftist Manhattan prosecutor was investigating him “for something that is not a crime, not a misdemeanor, not an affair.”
In his remarks, the 45th president of the United States referred to Daniels with a nickname he had used before.
“I never liked Horseface. I never liked [her] — it’s just not. That wouldn’t be the one. There is no one. We have a great first lady, who people really do love, and she’s done an incredible job,” he said, as cited by Breitbart News.
Trump claimed that Bragg’s probe had been premeditated against him since the latter specifically recruited Senior Counsel Matthew Colangelo from the “Department of Injustice” to do the job.
“He stacked his office with D.C. operatives [with] a man named Matthew Colangelo, one of the top people in the Department of Justice, was moved into the Manhattan DA’s office to make sure that Trump got taken care of. They couldn’t get it done in Washington,” he stated.
“And they sent him into New York to be in the Manhattan office. Can you imagine that? In order to prosecute and do everything he could to get rid of Trump because, you know, our poll numbers are through the roof,” Trump added.
“This is really prosecutorial misconduct. That’s what it’s called. The innocence of people makes no difference whatsoever to these radical left maniacs,” he elaborated.
He compared his potential upcoming indictment to previous administrative and congressional moves against him – such as two impeachments and the former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s “Trump-Russia probe – describing all of them as hoaxes.
“Impeachment hoax number one, phony deal. Impeachment hoax number two, phony deal. The Mueller witch hunt, phony deal,” Trump told the crowd.
“So, they’re not coming after me. They’re coming after you, and I’m just standing in their way, and I’m going to be standing in their way,” the former president stated.
