(DCWatchdog.com) – In a new bout of Donald Trump being merciless towards those who harm the nation, the president-elect has slammed California Governor Gavin Newsom, saying the latter “is the blame for” the state’s handling of devastating wildfires.

Trump attributes the current infernos to poor forest management under Newsom’s governance, while the latter points to climate change.
This conflict epitomizes clashing ideologies between state and federal strategies for managing natural disasters.
Trump attacked Newsom on Truth Social, accusing him of failing California by not signing crucial water restoration declarations.
These declarations could have redirected much-needed water to fire-stricken areas, potentially mitigating the impact of ongoing fires.
Trump’s criticism highlights his belief in proactive forest management, a stance that underlines federal perspectives over state policies, Radar Online points out in a report.
Central to Trump’s grievance is Newsom’s alleged preference for protecting the delta smelt, a fish species Trump labels “worthless,” over the needs of Californians.
Trump suggests this misguided priority has exacerbated the fire crisis, leaving Californians to “pay the ultimate price.”
Meanwhile, Newsom announced a statewide emergency over the Pacific Palisades blaze, where evacuations and water shortages sparked an intense firefighting effort.
“Governor Gavin Newscum refused to sign the water restoration declaration put before him that would have allowed millions of gallons of water, from excess rain and snow melt from the North, to flow daily into many parts of California, including the areas that are currently burning in a virtually apocalyptic way,” Donald Trump wrote on social media.
Issues were compounded by adverse weather conditions, as strong Santa Ana winds hampered aerial firefighting efforts.
Firefighting aircraft were grounded due to reduced visibility and heavy winds, further complicating the battle against the flames.
This natural obstacle came as meteorologists warned of extremely dry conditions, prime “recipe for fire” circumstances, with red flag warnings issued due to the critical fire threat, Fox News reports.
Newsom responded by touting federal funding to aid fire responses and praising first responders’ swift actions.
Yet the fires’ devastation is vast, with over 1,000 structures lost, more than two reported deaths, and over 70,000 evacuations.
Trump noted these challenges as political issues, rallying his base to advocate for policy shifts favoring increased water allocation to Californians over specific regulations.
“He wanted to protect an essentially worthless fish called a smelt, by giving it less water (it didn’t work!), but didn’t care about the people of California. Now the ultimate price is being paid,” Trump stated.
