(DCWatchdog.com) – This week, with the nation revisiting the events on Jan. 6, 2021, because of the Jan. 6 House Select Committee’s public hearings, former President Donald Trump released a 12-page rebuttal to evidence and testimony presented by the panel.
In a statement released through Trump’s Save America PAC, the former President took aim at Democrats, taking issue with a lack of focus on “the Radical Left” and querying their inability to “offer solutions.”
“Seventeen months after the events of January 6th, Democrats are unable to offer solutions,” Trump started his statement.
He continued, “They are desperate to change the narrative of a failing nation, without even making mention of the havoc and death caused by the Radical Left just months earlier. Make no mistake, they control the government. They own this disaster. They are hoping that these hearings will somehow alter their failing prospects.”
From there, the 12-page document displays Trump’s fixation on his claims of widespread election fraud during the 2020 Presidential election, adding that the committee’s hearing is pivotal to a possible 2024 campaign.
Throughout the document, Trump repeats many of his claims asserting the election was rigged to favor Democrats.
The former President also tries to prove the merit in his claims, stating there was ballot trafficking and citing the documentary “2000 Mules” by Dinesh D’Souza as evidence.
The mention of D’Souza’s documentary is a direct rebuttal to testimony from former Attorney General William Barr in which he laughed when the film was mentioned, saying he was “unimpressed with it” and dismissing the idea that it proved widespread fraud.
So far, the Jan. 6 committee has held two public hearings with the focus being to prove Trump’s actions — spreading information he knew to be inaccurate — led to the violent Capitol insurrection.
