(DCWatchdog.com) – Despite the bombshell allegation that surfaced yesterday claiming Herschel Walker paid one of his girlfriends to abort their child, former President Trump and several major GOP organizations have come to Walker’s defense as he seeks a U.S. Senate seat from Georgia.
Trump and the GOP organizations are blasting Democrats and the media over the allegations brought by the girlfriend, who has supporting documentation for her claim.
According to The Hill publication in a story headlined, “Trump defends Herschel Walker after abortion report”:
“Former President Trump on Tuesday backed Georgia Republican Senate nominee Herschel Walker’s denial of a Daily Beast report suggesting he paid for a woman’s abortion in 2009 after they conceived a child.
“‘Hershel Walker is being slandered and maligned by the Fake News Media and obviously, the Democrats,’ Trump said in a statement.
“‘Interestingly, I’ve heard many horrible things about his opponent, Raphael Warnock, things that nobody should be talking about, so we don’t. Herschel has properly denied the charges against him, and I have no doubt he is correct.'” [emphasis added]
Meanwhile, two major GOP organizations have come out in support of Walker:
“Top Republicans and GOP groups are sticking by Herschel Walker’s Senate campaign in Georgia after a report emerged a day earlier saying that the GOP nominee paid for a girlfriend’s abortion in 2009.
“The two leading Republican groups involved in Senate races, the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the Senate Leadership Fund, both announced on Tuesday that they are not backing off and will continue to press forward in Georgia to unseat Sen. Raphael Warnock (D). They both argued that the latest revelation is nothing more than a distraction and laid blame at the feet of the media.” [emphasis added]
