Trump Charges To the Lead

Former President Donald J. Trump

(DCWatchdog.com) – If this was 2024, former President Donald Trump would be the favorite to run for the presidency over the current resident of the White House.

According to an I&I/TIPP poll, 23% of registered voters prefer Trump to run for the presidency versus 19% that want Joe Biden. This latest polling result reflects a change in many voters over Biden’s time in office.

Even among Democratic voters, Biden’s popularity is showing cracks. Tippinsights’ Terry Jones noted, “Clearly, Biden is in serious trouble within the Democratic Party, garnering just 29% support.”

It doesn’t bode well for Democrats that younger age voters, many voting for the first time, were less than 12% supportive of Biden as opposed to Trump’s ranking of 23% support.

As Jones put it, that makes Donald Trump a “formidable political presence.”

The closest Biden polled as a close competitor to Trump was with those aged 25-44. But Biden still was down by 1% under Trump’s 25% preference.

There were interesting results where gender polling came into play. While males like Trump (29%) over Biden (25%), women want Trump to be the nominee at 20%.

Geography was the only bright point for Biden. He did receive a higher preference from those in metropolitan areas. However, when it came to those in rural/suburban settings, Trump easily overtook Biden.

Other GOP potentials did receive backing in the April 4-6 poll of 900+ registered voters.

Trump’s Vice President, Mike Pence, received the next highest percentage at 11%. Interestingly, Pence garnered more Black supporters than Trump.

Several other potential candidates received notable support, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (7%) and former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley (5%).
