Trump Attacked by Former AG

(DCWatchdog.com) – Former President Donald Trump will soon be indicted by the U.S. Justice Department, according to a prediction by his former attorney general Bill Barr.

In an interview with CBS Morning News, Barr stated he would “bet” that Trump would soon face a federal indictment.

The former member of Trump’s cabinet was asked to comment on a meeting between the former president’s legal team and DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith on Monday.

Smith is in charge of two probes against Trump – for alleged mishandling of classified documents and allegedly trying to overturn the 2020 election result.

According to Barr, who served as Trump’s AG from February 2019 until December 2020, the former president would be indicted for illegally keeping classified papers.

“I’ve said for a while this is the most dangerous legal risk facing the president. … There’s substantial evidence there,” the former attorney general stated.

“If I had to bet, I’d bet it’s near,” he added.

Barr rebuffed Trump’s allegations that he is the victim of political persecution.

“This is not a case of the Department of Justice conducting a witch hunt. In fact, they approached this very delicately and with deference to the president,” he said.

The former AG also argued that if Trump hadn’t “jerked them around for a year and a half, [this would have] gone nowhere.”

According to a report by The Messenger, a second grand jury in South Florida is also convening to hear evidence in the Trump investigation.

Republican US Senator Ted Cruz also predicted that the former president would be indicted.

“Mark my words: I believe [Attorney General] Merrick Garland will indict Donald Trump [because] he hates Donald Trump. Garland is angry that he wasn’t confirmed to the Supreme Court. He wants to indict him,” Cruz told Fox News.

In a post on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump also predicted an upcoming federal indictment against himself.

“The Marxists and Fascists in the DOJ & FBI are going after me at a level and speed never seen before in our Country, and I did nothing wrong,” declared the 45th president of the United States.
