(DCWatchdog.com) – Democrat vice presidential nominee Tim Walz was heavily slammed after his lackluster performance in the vice-presidential debate against Republican VP candidate JD Vance.
During the vice-presidential debate last night, Walz appeared unprepared and ineffective against Vance.
Even Mainstream Media liberal CNN journalists Abby Phillip and Dana Bash underscored how Walz seemed out-of-depth, allowing Vance to make his points unchallenged.
Bash noted that Walz’s lack of a significant media presence in the days before the debate likely impacted his readiness.
The debate covered crucial issues, including reproductive rights and the situation in the Middle East, but Walz’s scripted responses failed to provide effective counterarguments.
In contrast, JD Vance managed to avoid directly addressing Trump’s contentious 2020 election claims, instead focusing on future policies. His solid performance captured the attention of Trump supporters.
Well-known Democrat analyst David Axelrod remarked that while Walz started weakly, he eventually gained some ground.
However, Vance’s strategy to appear reasonable and courteous paid off significantly.
“JD Vance came to land a bunch of punches and he did… Tim Walz didn’t seem prepared for it,” CNN anchor Abby Phillip said after the debate wrapped. “There was a clear lack of preparation and execution here on Walz’s part.”
Most notably, Vance softened his rhetoric on contentious issues like abortion, opting for a calm demeanor throughout.
Democrat lawmakers had already expressed concerns that Walz might underperform, and the debate’s outcome seemed to validate these fears.
Despite this, the debate appears unlikely to change the overall dynamics of the race. Kamala Harris’ campaign praised Walz’s dedication to Democrat values, while Trump’s campaign declared Vance the clear winner.
While both campaigns spin the results in their favor, the real takeaway seems to be JD Vance’s superior performance.
The vice presidential debate may not have shifted the race’s trajectory, but it undoubtedly highlighted significant differences in readiness and effectiveness between the two candidates.
