The Gun Was a ‘Gift’?

(DCWatchdog.com) – After his son was arrested for killing four people in a Georgia school shooting this week, Colin Gray told police he had given the teenager the AR-15-style rifle used in the attack as a Christmas gift.

Law enforcement sources revealed that 14-year-old teenager Colt Gray, the suspected shooter, opened fire inside Apalachee High School in Winder, leaving two students and two teachers dead before authorities detained him.

The rifle allegedly used in the tragic shooting was a gift from Colt’s father, just seven months after the FBI had visited their home in response to tips about online threats of a school shooting.

The FBI’s Atlanta field office stated that these tips included photos of guns.

In May of last year, Jackson County sheriff investigators had identified Colt Gray, then 13, as a possible threat. However, after interviewing him and his father, Colin Gray, law enforcement found no probable cause to take further action.

In addition, Colin Gray informed police at the time that while he had hunting guns in the home, his son did not have unsupervised access to them. The teen also denied making any threats.

Nevertheless, a year later, Colt carried out the deadly attack, killing 14-year-old students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, along with math teachers 39-year-old Richard Aspinwall and 53-year-old Christina Irimie.

Eight other students and one teacher were injured during the shooting before Colt Gray surrendered to the police.

Furthermore, Colt now faces four counts of murder, and his father, Colin Gray, has also been arrested on related charges.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Colin Gray was taken into custody on Thursday and charged with four counts of manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children.
