Supreme Court Leaker Identified

United States Supreme Court Justices

(DCWatchdog.com) – On Wednesday, United States Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) blamed the United States Supreme Court draft opinion leak on a “woke little left-wing twit,” suggesting that it may have been one of the 12 clerks currently employed by a Democrat justice.

Speaking on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Cruz lamented the destructiveness of the leak: “It is difficult to overstate how destructive it is to the Supreme Court, to the independence of the judiciary, to the integrity of the court to have a draft opinion leaked during the process of deciding the case.”

Cruz then pointed out that “in over 200 years of our nation’s history,” a leak of this magnitude had never occurred.

He turned his attention to the suspect, who he called a “woke little left-wing twit.” He added that whoever leaked the draft opinion had decided “to hell with his or her obligations to the Justice they work for, to hell with the obligations to the court, to hell with the rule of law, that they would, instead, try to sneak out in order to put political pressure on the justices and intimidate them into changing their vote.”

Cruz added that he believes there is a “very good chance” of finding out who is responsible for the leak.

Discussing the possibility of finding the culprit with guest host Brian Kilmeade, Cruz pointed out that there was “a very limited universe of people who it could be,” given how the Supreme Court is structured and who has access to the draft opinions.

“The only people that have access to the opinions are the nine justices and their law clerks. Each justice has four clerks, so that’s 36 law clerks. And there are a handful of clerical assistants and secretaries who may have it.”

Cruz asserted that the chance it was a justice responsible for the leak is “zero.”

Instead, Cruz was adamant in his belief that it is a law clerk “and very likely a law clerk for one of the three liberal justices. That means there are 12 likely suspects.”

The Republican Senator went on to say that the person “willing to be unethical and break the law” is not a master criminal. Instead, they are someone who has “left a paper trail” with texts and emails between the person and reporters.

Cruz emphasized that whoever leaked the draft opinion will be found, adding when they are, “they are going to be fired on the spot. They will be disbarred if they’re members of the bar, or they will never be admitted to the bar to be a lawyer.”

He also brought up criminal prosecution, saying, “to the extent that they have broken criminal laws, they need to be prosecuted and sent to jail.”
