(DCWatchdog.com) – Potentially discriminating against hardworking students and undermining the principles of merit-based education, California’s latest radical proposal aims to prioritize university admissions for descendants of slaves.
Assemblymember Isaac Bryan proposed this controversial bill, which seeks to fundamentally alter the admissions process at public universities like the University of California and California State University.
The proposed legislation is a direct response to the conservative movement’s success in dismantling affirmative action and other diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs.
It follows the Supreme Court’s landmark decision to end race-based admissions policies, a victory for those who believe in equal opportunity rather than equal outcomes.
Bryan’s proposal aligns with recommendations from California’s Black Reparations Task Force, a group that has been pushing for various forms of compensation and preferential treatment for descendants of slaves.
Despite mixed results and opposition to previous proposals, this move represents a significant escalation in the state’s efforts to implement reparations.
Moreover, the timing of this bill is particularly concerning, as it appears to be a preemptive strike against potential actions by the incoming Trump administration.
The President-elect has vowed to challenge DEI policies and cut funding for schools that refuse to comply with a merit-based admissions system.
Bryan stated, “For decades universities gave preferential admission treatment to donors, and their family members, while others tied to legacies of harm were ignored and at times outright excluded.”
His statement conveniently ignores the fact that legacy admissions, while problematic, are not comparable to a state-mandated policy of racial preferences.
Furthermore, it fails to address how this new policy would impact students who have worked hard to earn their place in these universities based on merit alone.
The proposed act is part of a broader agenda to implement reparations in California. It goes beyond financial compensation to include preferential treatment in various aspects of life.
Bryan continued, “When folks think about reparations, they think about just cash payments. But repairing the harm and the inequality that came from slavery and the policies thereafter is a much bigger process.”
This statement reveals the true extent of the left’s agenda – not just financial reparations but a complete overhaul of societal structures to favor certain groups over others.
