Secret Service Slammed: ‘Dragging Their Feet’

(DCWatchdog.com) – In yet another seeming instance of power abuse by the Biden-Harris administration, the Secret Service and the FBI are impeding the Senate’s bipartisan inquiry into the attempted assassination of former President Trump, according to GOP US Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin.

Johnson voiced concerns over the probe, describing their actions as a deliberate delay, The Hill reports.

“All I can really tell you is the Secret Service, FBI are basically dragging their feet. They’re stonewalling us. And we have gotten some transcribed interviews, but the documents we request are heavily redacted,” he disclosed during an appearance on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”

He also pointed out that the agencies often do not provide the requested documents until the actual day of the interviews.

Johnson further explained that the Secret Service and FBI have not been cooperative in providing essential interview transcripts, known as 302s, which document conversations with numerous individuals.

“So we’re not getting squat, from my standpoint, from the Secret Service or the FBI. We have requested all their 302s, their transcriptions of their interviews with hundreds of individuals. They’re not turning those over to us as well,” he stated.

The senator is actively participating in the Senate’s bipartisan probe into a shooting incident at a Trump rally last month, which resulted in the deaths of one bystander and the assailant.

The former president narrowly escaped serious injury when a bullet grazed his ear, immediately after which a countersniper neutralized the gunman.

Following this incident, there is now a collective commitment from lawmakers across party lines to thoroughly investigate.

Gary Peters, Chair of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and a Democrat from Michigan, announced last month that his committee would lead this bipartisan effort.

Johnson, who formerly chaired the Senate Homeland Security Committee, has also advocated for a congressional investigation focusing on the security arrangements at the Trump rally.

On Sunday, he criticized the involved agencies for their lack of transparency and accountability.

“They hold themselves above the law. They don’t really think that they’re responsible to be coming under scrutiny by Congress or the American public. And so this is how they behave,” he remarked.

He further lamented that these agencies have exclusive control over when and what information is shared.

“They’re the only ones that are going to have access to this information until they decide what information to give us and when to give it to us. They’re in total control,” he added.
