According to Dunphy, she served as Giuliani’s business development director and public relations consultant from 2019 to 2021. While she first made her allegations public in January, she expanded on her claims in a comprehensive 70-page legal document filed in New York on Monday.
Giuliani, through a spokesperson, vehemently denies the allegations. His attorney has also previously refuted the claim that Giuliani ever employed Dunphy.
“Mayor Giuliani’s long history of public service is a testament to his character, and he intends to use every legal means to counter these allegations,” Giuliani’s communications adviser, Ted Goodman, stated.
The recent court document paints a picture of Giuliani, 78, as a heavy drinker and promiscuous man who made compliance with his sexual desires a mandatory aspect of Dunphy’s job. Dunphy is seeking a minimum of $10 million in damages.
In the lawsuit, Dunphy alleges she made various audio recordings of Giuliani, including ones where she claims he can be heard making lewd comments, demanding sexual favors, and uttering sexist, racist, and antisemitic remarks. Dunphy’s legal team, however, has refused to share these recordings with the media, stating they are part of ongoing legal proceedings.
Included in the lawsuit are screenshots of suggestive text messages allegedly from Giuliani.
The lawsuit alleges Giuliani hired Dunphy in January 2019, promising her an annual salary of $1 million for her consulting services. However, he reportedly told her payment would be deferred until he had finalized his divorce from his third wife, Judith.
The complaint suggests that Giuliani started making sexual advances towards Dunphy almost immediately, which included kissing her in the back of an SUV on her first day and requesting sexual favors, occasionally while conversing with notable friends and clients over the phone.
Dunphy further alleges that Giuliani often insisted she work while wearing a bikini or American flag-themed shorts he purchased for her and even asked her to undress during video conferences.
After settling his divorce in December 2019, Dunphy claims she only received a few cash payments totaling $12,000 from Giuliani for living expenses, leaving an unpaid balance of $1,988,000.
Dunphy also claims Giuliani reneged on a promise to represent her pro bono in a lengthy legal battle involving domestic abuse allegations.
In this separate legal case, Dunphy accused a former partner of rape and physical assault. The individual countersued, alleging he was the actual victim of physical abuse and harassment. He also filed a defamation lawsuit, accusing her of extortion.
In 2016, Dunphy agreed to a settlement of $10,000 to resolve her claims, but as of last year, there was still a dispute regarding the final resolution.
