(DCWatchdog.com) – In a development linked to the “Trump effect” right after the new president’s inauguration, Russian leader Vladimir Putin has reached out and expressed an eagerness to reopen dialog with America in order to “prevent World War III.”

Putin’s statement might be aiming for a comprehensive resolution to the Russia-Ukraine war.
Shortly after Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States, Vladimir Putin congratulated him, extending an olive branch to engage in dialog.
Putin emphasized the necessity of addressing the core issues causing the Russia-Ukraine crisis rather than temporary ceasefires that do little to resolve underlying tensions.
Amidst a world on edge due to tensions akin to the Cuban missile crisis, the stakes are undeniably high.
According to Putin, “Moscow is open for dialog with the United States that will be built on an equal and mutually respectful basis,” cited by The Epoch Times.
This sentiment underscores the mutual interest in mending relations that have been at a historic low for decades.
Trump, stepping into action, has appointed retired Gen. Keith Kellogg as the special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, signaling a serious approach to diplomatic resolution.
Kellogg has recommended a formal ceasefire and sanctions relief for Russia, aiming to pave the way for dialogue.
Putin’s demands are clear: a withdrawal of Ukrainian troops, the neutralization of Ukraine’s military stance, and the lifting of Western-imposed sanctions.
On the other hand, Trump’s push for diplomacy includes leveraging his relationships with both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to advance peace talks.
“We also hear his statement about the need to do everything possible to prevent World War Three,” the Russian leader said further.
Despite Trump’s intention to unveil a detailed negotiation strategy, it remains under wraps.
This clandestine approach raises questions. Will Trump make headway, or will lingering geopolitical issues stall progress?
Meanwhile, both Switzerland and Serbia have offered to host the long-awaited meeting between Trump and Putin.
With Biden having increased military aid to Ukraine to strengthen its position in peace talks, Trump criticizes these actions and warns against provoking a greater conflict.
Putin offers (deliberately timed) comments and congratulations to Donald Trump. "We are open for dialogue with the new U.S. administration on the Ukrainian conflict. The most important thing here is to eliminate the root causes of the crisis…."#Putin #DonaldTrump #Trump2025 pic.twitter.com/GLa4OBCpzS
