Psaki: Biden Will Expose ‘Truth’ About Capitol Riot

( – Breaking Now: Just moments ago, during a press briefing at the White House in Washington, DC, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told the gathered media that this Thursday President Joe Biden will address the nation and will “speak to the truth of what happened” during the riot at the United States Capitol last January 6th.

Thursday is the first anniversary of the attack on the Capitol that left dozens of police officers injured and delayed the certification of the Electoral College results that put President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris into office on January 20th, 2021.

As you’ll see in the video of Psaki below, she just responded to a question about what will take place in two days in a ceremony that will occur at the Capitol:

Reporter: “Do you have anything to share on what the president’s message will be on Thursday when he goes to The Hill for the anniversary of 1/6?”

Psaki: “Sure. Absolutely. I can give you some highlights at this point in time…The President will speak to the historical significance of January 6th and what it means for the country one year later. As a reminder, on the afternoon of January 6th, the President called what was happening at the Capitol then an unprecedented assault on our democracy – an attempt to subvert our Constitution and interfere with the peaceful transition of power. So, on Thursday, the President is going to speak to the truth of what happened – not the lies that some have spread since – and the peril it has posed to the rule of law and our system of democratic governance. He will also mark that day and commemorate the heroes of January 6th – especially the brave men and women of law enforcement who fought to uphold the Constitution and protect the Capitol and the lives of the people who were there. Because of their efforts, our democracy withstood an attack from a mob. And the will of the more than 150 million people who voted in the presidential election was ultimately registered by Congress. And he will also speak to the work we still need to do to secure and strengthen our democracy and our institutions to reject the hatred and lies we say on January 6th and to unite our country.
