Proof: COVID Welfare Hurt Businesses

(DCWatchdog.com) – Even though hard-working Americans with commonsense already know that businesses have been unable to fill job openings because so many Americans were living on the dole collecting enhanced COVID unemployment “benefits” (welfare), today’s jobs report that was just released by the federal government is definitive proof of that truth.

First, the good news.

American businesses filled 531,000 jobs during the month of October. And, the national unemployment rate fell to 4.6%, which is the lowest figure since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

Actually, it was even more than that as the 531,000 figure includes government jobs. And the nation’s local, state, and federal governments lost 73,000 jobs.

So, the private business sector added a whopping 604,000 jobs last month.

Significantly, the leisure and hospitality sector saw the most significant number of jobs filled with 164,000.

A few more statistics before we address the issue of COVID welfare.

  • Professional and business services added 100,000 jobs
  • Manufacturing added 60,000 jobs
  • Transportation and warehouses added 54,000 jobs
  • Construction added 44,000 jobs
  • Health care added 37,000 jobs
  • Retail added 35,000 jobs

So why the huge jump? Why was there a far bigger and better increase in jobs filled than so-called analysts predicted?

Remember: Enhanced federal unemployment benefits ended for millions of Americans in September. Then, lo and behold, all of a sudden, 604,000 Americans returned to work in October.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that “enhanced” federal unemployment benefits, added on top of state unemployment benefits, led to a significant number of Americans not going back to work because they could collect more money from the government than they made at their previous job.

The welfare/unemployment benefits ended.

The unemployed suddenly started going back to work.

What do you believe? Do you think that enhanced federal unemployment benefits led to a significant number of Americans not going back to work because they could collect more money from the government than they made at their previous job?
