With allergens like peanuts and soy missing from labels, this oversight could result in severe allergic reactions.
This troubling event highlights ongoing challenges in ensuring consumer safety from imported goods.
Liaoning Cheng Da USA Inc. has voluntarily recalled 3,650 cases of its Wangzhihe Hot Pot Sauce, available in Regular and Spicy flavors, because of undeclared allergens—namely peanut, soy, sesame, and wheat.
These omissions raise significant health concerns, particularly for individuals with these allergies, despite not yet having any reported illnesses.
These affected sauces can be identified by UPC numbers 6907592001375 (Regular) and 6907592001382 (Spicy).
They come in 160g (5.64 oz) plastic containers and were distributed across California, residing on shelves in stores such as 99 Ranch Market, Hawaii Supermarket, and Great Wall Supermarket, Food Safety News reports.
The risk associated with these undeclared allergens is not to be underestimated.
Consumers with allergies could experience severe, life-threatening reactions upon exposure.
It’s paramount that consumers return these products to the purchase location for a full refund, reinforcing the urgency to check labels rigorously.
“The company asks customers who bought the Sauce to return it to the store for a full refund,” said Liaoning Cheng Da USA Inc.
Further information reveals that the affected batches have lot numbers including 2023/12/20, 2024/1/31, 2024/4/15, and 2024/10/18, with a best-before date of July 2, 2026.
Eran Mizrahi, CEO of Source86, highlights the essentials, “Consumer trust is the foundation of any successful food product, and that trust depends on transparency and strict quality control.”
To further complicate the situation, Dr. Sebastian Linghvani discussed how allergens can trigger severe reactions, emphasizing the abrupt and intense nature of such events.

Consumers are urged to contact Liaoning Cheng Da USA Inc. at 626-285-2887 for more details, and to remain vigilant about recent recalls for transparency and accuracy in labeling foods sold in America.
“The difference between someone who is allergic and someone who’s not, really, at its core is that an allergic individual can come across something as innocuous as a small amount of the food, egg, peanut, milk, and ingest it,” Dr. Linghvani said.
This recall serves as a critical reminder of the shared responsibility within the food industry to uphold product integrity.
As consumers, demanding accountability and accuracy is essential, continuing to reinforce high standards for product safety and preventing any overlooked allergens from threatening our health and safety.
