With at least 51 consumer complaints already filed and six minor burn injuries reported, the charger’s overheating lithium-ion batteries are a real concern for user safety.

The recall focuses on Casely’s popular 5,000mAh Power Pod with model number E33A, recognizable by “Casely” engraved on the front and right sides, while the model number sits on the back.

The malfunctioning chargers, manufactured between March 2022 and September 2024, have led to over 50 reports of overheating, expanding, or catching fire. Such incidents highlight the critical need for caution and vigilance among consumers.

Citing the fire hazard, both Casely and the CPSC have urged users to stop using the recalled Power Pods immediately, Tom’s Guide reports.

It’s essential for owners to follow specific disposal instructions as these power pods should not be thrown away or placed in general recycling or battery recycling boxes.

Traditional disposal methods might inadvertently lead to further risks. CPSC emphasizes that users should reach out to local household hazardous waste collection centers for proper disposal guidance.

“More than 400,000 Casely wireless phone chargers were recalled on Thursday over concerns that they could pose a fire hazard,” officials said, cited by The New York Times.

In response to this alarming situation, Casely is offering free replacements for the affected Power Pods.

Customers needing a replacement must fill out an online form and upload photos of their recalled device to receive a safe version.

The company also assured consumers proof of purchase is not necessary for the exchange.

The recall has sparked broader discussions about consumer safety and manufacturer responsibility, reminding us of the importance of verifying product safety.

Consumers, especially in volatile markets dominated by rapid technological advancements, must remain vigilant and informed.

“Proof of purchase is not required,” the company said.
