(DCWatchdog.com) – A new poll has delivered political career-ending news to former Vice President Mike Pence as he emerged as the top choice of Republican voters asked who they would never vote for.
The result comes from the latest Fox News survey, which asked GOP primary voters about their least favorite 2024 presidential nomination candidates.
Over a third of likely GOP primary voters – or 35% – said they would “never” vote for Pence, Breitbart News reports.
The former vice president’s score is almost twice that of the second least favored Republican presidential candidate – former South Carolina Governor and US Ambassador Nikki Haley. Precisely 20% of the likely GOP primary voters declared they would never vote for her.
As per the poll, the third spot in the ranking of the least favorite 2024 GOP candidates was shared by anti-woke entrepreneur Vikek Ramaswamy and US Senator Tim Scott (R-SC). Each one of them was selected by 16% of the respondents.
The Fox News poll also found 14% of Republican voters say they would never vote for Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis.
Former President Donald Trump, who remains the frontrunner for the GOP nomination with a double-digit lead on the DeSantis, had the best ranking, with only 13% of Republicans saying they would never vote for him in a presidential election.
Conversely, the poll also found that Trump categorically retains the top spot, as 58% of likely GOP primary voters declared they would “definitely” vote for him.
At the same time, 30% of those polled said they would “definitely” vote for DeSantis, while 13% said they would be certain to support Vivek Ramaswamy.
Former Vice President Pence came in fourth, with 12% declaring they would definitely support him. US Senator Tim Scott shared the same spot and the same result with him.
Former US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, was ranked sixth and last, with 10% of the likely GOP primary voters saying they would vote for her.
The poll didn’t list other candidates, such as former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
The latest Fox News poll was conducted from June 23-26 among 1,055 registered voters. The Republican part of the survey has a margin of error of 5 percentage points.
