(DCWatchdog.com) – In a stunning display of intraparty division, Senator John Fetterman has publicly slammed former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her criticism of Joe Biden following Kamala Harris’ election loss.
The controversy erupted after Pelosi suggested that Biden’s earlier exit could have allowed for a more diverse field of candidates.
“Had [President Biden] gotten out sooner, there may have been other candidates in the race,” Pelosi stated, effectively blaming Biden for Harris’ defeat against President-elect Donald Trump.
Fetterman, known for his blunt approach, did not mince words in his response. “People like [Nancy] Pelosi, she really tried to — what’s the word I’m looking for? — she embraced this ‘she’s the godmother, she’s the enforcer,'” Fetterman told reporters.
“And now she’s blaming Biden. Well, you can’t have it both ways. You got what you wanted, and now you’re still blaming Biden,” he added.
The Pennsylvania senator’s criticism highlights a growing frustration among Democrats with the old guard’s grip on power.
Fetterman pointedly questioned Pelosi’s decision to run for reelection at 84, saying, “I think it’s really ironic that you have a woman at age 84 and she is still hanging on. Why not give a younger generation an opportunity to occupy that seat?”
Other House Democrats echoed this sentiment, with one senior lawmaker bluntly stating that Pelosi “needs to take a seat.”
In addition, Fetterman commented on President-elect Trump’s provocative nomination of Matt Gaetz for attorney general.
“I mean it’s — I would describe it as God-tier level trolling to just trigger a full-on China Syndrome to own the libs in perpetuity,” Fetterman remarked.
Meanwhile, the internal strife comes at a critical time for the Democrat Party as it grapples with its future direction.
Pelosi’s attack on Biden, despite her previous role in pushing him out of the 2024 race, has been met with widespread disapproval within the party ranks.
In an attempt to quell the growing discord, a spokesperson for Pelosi praised House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, stating, “Speaker Pelosi is immensely proud of Leader Hakeem Jeffries and his masterful stewardship of the House Democratic Caucus.”
However, this endorsement does little to address the underlying issues of generational conflict and strategic disagreements plaguing the party.
