Nancy Pelosi

( – In a new indication that Joe Biden is going down, former Democrat House Speaker and US Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California has refused to say whether she supports the president’s bid for reelection.

Pelosi refrained from giving a clear response when Willie Geist, co-host of “Morning Joe,” inquired on Wednesday if she favors Biden’s reelection.

This query arises amid internal disagreements within the Democratic Party following Biden’s underwhelming debate performance against former President Donald Trump, The Daily Caller points out in a report.

In her interview, Pelosi expressed her readiness to back Biden’s decision, whatever it might be.

Despite Biden having already resolved to run again, Geist pressed her for a direct answer, which she did not provide.

Geist shifted the focus, probing, “You just went through the president’s record, but let me ask you about the current moment. Does he have your support to be the head of the Democrat ticket?”

“It’s up to the president to decide if he is going to run. We’re all encouraging him to make that decision because time is running short. I think overwhelming support of the caucus, it’s not for me to say. I’m not the head of the caucus anymore, but he’s beloved. He is respected and people want him to make that decision. Not me,” Pelosi responded.

President Biden himself intervened in the conversation on Monday, affirming on “Morning Joe” that he is firmly in the race and invited those within his party who are dissatisfied to “challenge” him at the upcoming party convention in August.

Geist reiterated to Pelosi, “He has said he has made the decision. He has said firmly this week he is going to run. Do you want him to run?”

Pelosi maintained her stance, “I want him to do whatever he decides to do, and that’s the way it is. Whatever he decides, we go with,” adding that she is “proud of the president.”

Democratic strategist James Carville speculated on Monday that Biden’s withdrawal from the race was “inevitable,” suggesting it would happen “soon as opposed to later.”

“He will come to the conclusion. People will get the message to him. He will understand. His family will understand,” Carville noted.

“They’ll pray on it and they’ll make the right decision. I don’t have any doubt about it but while we dilly-dallying around here, somebody’s got to think of where we go from here,” the strategist concluded.
