NEW: DeSantis Attacked by Trump Supporters

Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis

(DCWatchdog.com) – Former President Donald Trump supporters attacked Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis for reacting too “weakly” to reports that the former president may be getting indicted and arrested any day now.

There have been reports in mainstream media that Manhattan’s Democrat DA Alvin Bragg is preparing to indict Donald Trump over a 2016 “hush money scandal” in which porn star Stormy Daniels was paid $130,000 to keep quiet about an affair she and Trump allegedly had ten years earlier.

In a Truth Social post last Friday, Trump warned he might be arrested on Tuesday, March 21, and urged his supporters to stage protests over such prospects.

Reacting to the rumors, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said a possible Trump indictment would be a “manufactured circus” in which he wouldn’t want any involvement.

During a press conference on Monday, the governor noted that leftist billionaire George Soros backed Manhattan’s DA.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen. But I do know this: The Manhattan district attorney is a Soros-funded prosecutor,” DeSantis said, as cited by Breitbart News.

He slammed Soros-backed prosecutors, arguing they “weaponize their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety,” an approach that he said was “fundamentally wrong.”

“We are not involved in this [and] won’t be involved in this… [I have] no interest in getting involved in some type of manufactured circus by some Soros DA,” DeSantis insisted regarding a potential Trump indictment.

“I’ve got so many things pending in front of the legislature. I’ve got to spend my time on issues that actually matter to people. I can’t spend my time worrying about things or things of that nature, so we’re not going to be involved in any way,” he added.

His comments have angered GOP figures like Donald Trump Jr., the former president’s eldest son.

“So DeSantis thinks that Dems weaponizing the law to indict President Trump is a ‘manufactured circus’ & isn’t a ‘real issue.’ Pure weakness,” Trump Jr. wrote on Twitter.

“Now we know why he was silent all weekend. He’s totally owned by Karl Rove, Paul Ryan & his billionaire donors,” the eldest Trump son added.

He further described Florida’s governor, considered his father’s most viable rival for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, as “100% Controlled Opposition.”

“Until that day where they do the exact same thing to him, his friends and his family… at which time he will neither have the backbone, nor the resources, to fight off the corrupt system. He’s not the guy I thought he was [sic]…” tweeted Eric Trump, another of President Trump’s sons, regarding the Florida governor’s reaction.

“Anyone surprised by this? Been saying this forever: Desantis is a good Governor but he is establishment and will be a major disappointment to those who think otherwise. People disenchanted with Trump (sometimes rightfully) saw things in Desantis that were never there,” wrote conservative commentator Candace Owens.

“This acrimonious back-and-forth between Trump and DeSantis is very disappointing. In my view, both men are at fault. Trump should acknowledge DeSantis’ great record in Florida. DeSantis should realize a Trump arrest has NOTHING to do with paying off a porn star,” commented on Twitter Dinesh D’Souza, another conservative pundit.
