(DCWatchdog.com) – It has been reported that President Biden plans to announce his intention to run for a second term in the White House within the next few weeks.
An ally of the President told The Hill, “I think it’s all about timing at this point. It seems like he’s all in. It’s not really ‘if’ he runs anymore.”
If he were to be inaugurated again, he would be 82 years old and 86 by the end of a potential second term.
It is expected that the President and his senior aides will make an official announcement in February, around the time of the State of the Union address to Congress.
The President and his family reportedly decided to run for re-election during their Christmas trip to St. Croix, where they stayed in the home of wealthy business owners Bill and Connie Neville.
However, they decided to keep their plans secret until the House Republicans concluded their selection of the new Speaker of the House.
The date of the State of the Union speech is typically set by the House of Representatives, which will now be the responsibility of newly installed Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
