MTG Blames Speaker Johnson!?

(DCWatchdog.com) – In one of the few unpleasant developments for the GOP these days, House Speaker Mike Johnson’s leadership faces critical opposition from within his party, as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene accuses him of promoting President Biden’s fiscal agenda, thus limiting GOP’s electoral success.

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s dissatisfaction with Speaker Johnson stems from what she perceives as his inadequate efforts in securing a larger GOP majority.

Despite Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris by an impressive margin of 85 Electoral College votes and a lead of 3 million in the popular vote, Greene believes the party should have gained more ground.

Her accusations reverberate within the GOP, highlighting Johnson’s support for the Biden-Harris fiscal policies as a reason for a less than stellar Republican performance in the recent elections.

Greene asserts that Johnson’s leadership has “fully passed the Biden-Harris agenda,” stating, “We should have a major majority, a supermajority, but we don’t.”

Her comments resonate with her conservative base frustrated by what they view as compromises in conservative values at the legislative level.

In contrast, she firmly supports Trump’s plan, suggesting that any deviation is a betrayal of the mandate given by the American people.

“He passed, fully passed, the Biden-Harris agenda,” MTG declared, cited by Newsweek.

However, Johnson remains confident in his leadership.

With Trump’s endorsement, Johnson is not overly concerned about Greene’s ongoing efforts to oust him.

Trump backs Johnson as Speaker, recognizing his role in maintaining the GOP majority, despite the narrow margin.

A confirmation vote in January will test Johnson’s ability to rally his party amid internal conflicts.

Johnson needs at least 218 votes to solidify his position as Speaker, with Republicans controlling a delicate 217 seats.

The ongoing disputes within the GOP could potentially affect his chance at reelection as the Speaker, especially with just five undecided races leaning Republican.

If these seats fall through, the party may face challenges in maintaining cohesion and advancing conservative legislative goals.

“The president-elect said he “100%” backed Johnson during a closed-door meeting with GOP lawmakers on Wednesday,” The Washington Examiner reports.

Moving forward, the Republican Party faces a crucial decision: unify under Johnson’s leadership bolstered by Trump’s support, or face further fragmentation amidst internal dissent.
