(DCWatchdog.com) – For his 81st birthday, President Joe Biden seems to be getting bad news as presents, as a new survey by a left-wing pollster has established most Americans consider him too old for the job that he officially hopes to hold until January 2029.
A new Harvard-Harris poll, released on the president’s 81st birthday, reveals significant concerns among voters regarding his mental fitness and age appropriateness for the presidency.
Respondents were asked, “Is Joe Biden mentally fit to serve as President of the United States or do you have doubts about his fitness for office?”
The results showed a division in perception: 42% affirmed Biden’s mental fitness, while 58% expressed doubts about his capability, Breitbart News reports.
Among Democrat participants, 71% viewed Biden as mentally fit, whereas 81% of Republicans and 69% of third-party and unaffiliated voters harbored concerns about his fitness.
The poll also inquired whether voters believed Biden “is showing he is too old to be President or” if they “think he is showing he is fit to be president.”
Two-thirds of the voters indicated that Biden appears too old for the presidency, in contrast to one-third who felt otherwise.
A significant 89% of GOP voters and 72% of independents viewed him as too old for the office, whereas 63% of Democrats believed he is fit for the presidency, despite 37% of Democrats expressing age-related concerns.
Additionally, the poll revealed that nearly half of all voters perceive Biden as deteriorating in his presidential role, while only 28% see him improving and 23% believe his performance has remained unchanged.
A majority of independents (55%) and Republicans (73%) opined that Biden is worsening as president, while most Democrats (51%) saw him as improving.
This poll, which also suggests Biden trailing behind former President Donald Trump in hypothetical election scenarios, comes amid growing anxiety among Democrats about Biden’s chances in a potential rematch with Trump.
The survey, conducted on November 15 and 16, 2023, involved 2,581 registered voters nationwide. The pollsters did not specify a margin of error.
It comes as a recent report by leftist news outlet Politico highlighted the concerns of Biden’s close allies.
“Those close allies believe that Biden is mentally up for the job, but some acknowledge that the president can at times appear frail,” the report observed.
