(DCWatchdog.com) – Nicholas John Roske, a 26-year-old resident of California, was charged with attempted murder after he tried to kill Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Greenbelt, Md., Roske appeared in court on Wednesday afternoon, following his arrest near Kavanaugh’s home earlier on Wednesday.

According to the arrest affidavit, Roske allegedly turned away from Kavanaugh’s home after he spotted two Deputy U.S. Marshalls.
However, Roske was only arrested after he told on himself, calling Montgomery County Emergency Center, where he told the center that he had a firearm in his suitcase, had been considering suicide and intended to kill Kavanaugh.
When searched, officials found many items in his backpack and suitcase; these included a Glock 17 pistol, two magazines, ammunition, pepper spray, and zip ties.
As for motive, the affidavit reveals Roske mentioned to detectives “that he was upset about the leak of a recent Supreme Court draft decision regarding the right to abortion as well as the recent school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.”
If convicted, Roske faces up to 20 years in prison.
