McConnell Slams Trump

(DCWatchdog.com) – Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell attacked former President Donald Trump over his comments that the United States Constitution’s election rules should be “terminated” since, in Trump’s opinion, the Twitter Files on the censoring of Hunter Biden laptop stories meant Joe Biden won the White House through fraud.

McConnell, the longest-serving GOP US Senator who collaborated with Trump during the former president’s term, blasted him at a news conference on Tuesday, as cited by The Daily Caller.

The Kentucky Republican insisted it would be problematic for Trump to execute the office of US President because he believed the American Constitution should be suspended.

His comment came after a reporter asked him if he would support Trump for the 2024 presidential nomination of the GOP. The former president announced his new White House candidacy at his Mar-a-Lago home on November 15.

“Let me just say, anyone seeking the presidency who thinks that the Constitution could somehow be suspended or not followed, it seems to me would have a very hard time being sworn in as President of the United States,” McConnell declared.

“What I’m saying is that it would be pretty hard to be sworn in to the presidency if you’re not willing to uphold the Constitution,” he added.

That was the second week in a row in which the Senate Minority Leader started his weekly press conference by criticizing Trump, after last week he slammed the former president for having inner with rapper Kanye West and Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes.

Trump was furious after last Friday, Twitter’s new owner Elon Musk started to reveal that the social media platform covered up the Hunter Biden laptop story in October 2020, possibly altering the outcome of the 2020 election in Joe Bidens’ favor.

The infuriated Trump took to Truth Social, his social media platform, to ponder whether he should be sworn into office as president immediately or whether the 2020 election should be held anew.

“So, with the revelation of MASSIVE & WIDESPREAD FRAUD & DECEPTION in working closely with Big Tech Companies, the DNC, & the Democratic Party, do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION?” Trump wrote.

“A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution. Our great ‘Founders’ did not want, and would not condone False & Fraudulent Elections!” added POTUS 45.

Other GOP US Senators who have slammed Trump’s remarks on the Constitution are Sen. John Thune of South Dakota and Sen. John Cornyn of Texas.

“I’m at a loss for words. We need to move on,” Cornyn told Politico.
