(DCWatchdog.com) – Philip Perry, the husband of Republican US Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, is a partner at the law firm that represents Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden.
Liz Cheney, an anti-Trump Republican, and daughter of ex-Vice President Dick Cheney, is falling behind in the polls ahead of the Wyoming GOP primary on August 16, where she faces Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman.
Cheney has been attacking the former president over the 1/6 events at the US Capitol and is a member of Nancy Pelosi’s select House committee probing them, while Trump has described her as a RINO (“Republican in Name Only”).
A report by The New York Post has now exposed the fact that Liz Cheney’s husband’s law firm is providing legal representation “across the aisle,” and to no other than First Son Hunter Biden, whose murky business dealings and substance and sex addictions were exposed through the contents of one of his lost laptops.
Cheney’s husband, Philip Perry, has been working since 2007 at Latham & Watkins, specializing in white collar cases, Supreme Court cases, and commercial lawsuits.
Chris Clark, another partner in Perry’s law firm, has represented Joe Biden’s son since December 2020. However, the fact that Liz Cheney’s husband is involved in the same firm has been exposed only now.
“Latham is a Democratic powerhouse, with company attorneys and other employees donating more than half a million dollars to President Biden’s 2020 campaign,” the report emphasized, citing records of the Federal Election Commission. Clark, in particular, gave $3,800.
Clark’s company profile informs that he represented Hunter Biden in a “grand jury investigation regarding tax issues.”
Another Latham partner, Nicholas McQuaid, was appointed by Joe Biden on his first day in office to lead the criminal division of the Department of Justice, even though, at the time, a DOJ probe into Hunter Binder was in full swing.
The president’s move at the time was rebuked in writing by Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IO) and Ron Johnson (R-WI).
“Latham & Watkins has 3000 lawyers and thousands of clients. Mr. Perry has no role at all in any matter involving Hunter Biden,” a spokesman for Liz Cheney told The NYP regarding her husband’s involvement with the “Democrat powerhouse” law firm.
