(DCWatchdog.com) – Republican US Rep. Lauren Boebert has released an explanation with an apology after she recently tossed in the trash a tribute pin for a Uvalde shooting victim handed to her in a leftist activists’ ambush.

In a statement over the weekend, Boebert (R-CO) said she apologized “for the appearance” of disrespecting the child victims of the shoot in Uvalde, Texas.

In the Uvalde massacre on May 24, 2022, an 18-year-old shot and slaughtered 19 schoolchildren and two teachers at Robb Elementary School as the local police stood idly by for over an hour.

In her address, the Colorado Republican stressed that she threw away the tribute pin because she didn’t want to take anything from the male leftist activist who gave it to her and had been harassing her for a while now.

“If anyone thinks that I was disrespecting a child who tragically lost their lives at the hands of an evil, evil person, I want to apologize for the appearance of that. But that’s not at all what it was,” she said, as cited by The Hill.

A social media video from last week showed a lefty activist walking alongside Boebert and handing her a memorial pin and a pamphlet.

“We hope you take action on gun violence prevention,” another leftist activist is heard saying to the congresswoman, who strongly supports Second Amendment rights.

During the encounter, Boebert doesn’t respond in any manner to the two Democrat activists, but she is seen throwing the items in a trash can as soon as she manages to walk away from them.

According to one of the leftist harassers, Boebert said “no” while shaking her head when handed the pamphlet.

“I simply did not want to receive anything from this aggressive man who has been harassing me and my office,” Boebert declared in her explanatory video.

She added that she was wearing AirPods and told the leftist ambushers she was “occupied.”

“[I] tried to tell the man that I was occupied, and he continued, and as he was handing me what turned out to be a memorial pin, I recognized him as a man who came at me very aggressively just a few weeks prior during a press conference,” Boebert emphasized.
