(DCWatchdog.com) – As though being under attack by the Biden administration for defending America wasn’t enough, the GOP Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, has now been targeted by a major Latino rights group, accusing him of encouraging “white extremists” to go to the Southern Border amid the ongoing illegal alien invasion.
On Monday, the oldest Latino civil rights organization in the US, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), claimed that Abbott was stirring up “radical elements” to engage in violent acts.
This criticism comes amid growing friction between Texas and the federal government regarding the control and management of the border, The Hill notes in a report.
LULAC President Domingo Garcia argued that the governor’s statements could potentially provoke individuals with extremist views to commit violent acts like the 2019 mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, where a gunman killed 23 and injured 22 at a Walmart.
“False and inciteful political rhetoric from Governor Greg Abbott is agitating people to possibly commit acts of violence and mass murder. We urge our members, especially those in Texas, to be on alert for armed out-of-state extremists with a hate agenda,” Garcia said.
This 2019 incident was a deliberate attack targeting Mexicans, the report notes.
In light of recent developments, García’s warning takes on additional significance.
Reports have emerged about a group named “Take Our Border Back Convoy,” which began organizing rallies in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with plans to proceed to Texas.
“We strongly condemn any violence as we call for everyone to be in honor and have clean hands. This convoy is meant to bring our country together in love, kindness and in peace. We call on everyone to respect our public police, sheriff’s, law enforcement, military or anyone in a public authority position,” the convoy group said in a statement.
LULAC mentioned this convoy, highlighting that some of its organizers identify as “God’s army.”
Last week, Governor Abbott once again blasted President Joe Biden over border security, calling the situation along the border an “invasion.”
This escalation followed a Supreme Court decision that authorized federal Border Patrol agents to dismantle and remove barbed wire installations set up by Texas law enforcement agencies, including the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas National Guard.
“Abbott and his supporters are creating a media circus for political gain and to raise money,” Garcia claimed in conclusion.
