(DCWatchdog.com) – Even though leftist pundits have been quick to claim that Kamala Harris won Tuesday night’s presidential debate against Donald Trump, a collection of undecided voters interviewed by Reuters were not convinced the Democrat Vice President was the superior choice.
Prior to watching the debate, these ten individuals were unsure of their choice for the November 5 election.
Following the debate, six leaned towards Trump or decided to support him, three shifted their support to Harris, and one remained undecided, Reuters informs, cited by Newsmax.
The competition between Harris and Trump is close, with the election potentially being determined by a small margin of votes in several key battleground states, home to many undecided voters like those Reuters spoke with.
Despite the limited number of respondents, their feedback suggested that Harris might need to present more comprehensive policy plans to attract undecided voters.
Five of them noted that Harris was unclear on how she would boost the US economy and address the high cost of living, which is a significant concern for many voters.
This debate was particularly crucial for Harris, as a recent New York Times/Siena College poll indicated that over a quarter of likely voters felt they didn’t know her well, unlike Trump, who is widely recognized.
Those who shifted their support to Trump expressed greater trust in his economic leadership, despite personal disapproval of him.
They recalled better personal financial circumstances during his presidency from 2017 to 2021.
Some highlighted his proposal to tax foreign imports, a strategy economists believe could increase prices.
Four of these voters felt that Harris did not demonstrate how her economic policies would differ from those of current Democrat President Joe Biden, whom they largely hold responsible for the high cost of living.
“I still don’t know what she is for. There was no real meat and bones for her plans,” remarked Mark Kadish, 61, an entrepreneur from Florida.
The group included four women and six men, with eight identifying as white and two as black.
All have previously voted for both Democrat and Republican candidates.
During the debate, Harris did mention specific policies, such as offering tax benefits to families and small businesses, but she spent a significant amount of time criticizing Trump rather than detailing her policies.
Robert Wheeler, 48, a security firm executive from Nevada, initially leaned towards Harris but shifted his preference to Trump after the debate, citing a lack of clarity in Harris’s policies.
“I felt like the whole debate was Kamala Harris telling me why not to vote for Donald Trump instead of why she’s the right candidate,” Wheeler stated.
