Is This Pol’s Wife The Star of The Show?

(DCWatchdog.com) – Florida’s first lady Casey DeSantis “charmed” the Republican audience in Iowa, becoming the “star” during her husband’s last campaign stop in the early primary state.

Ron DeSantis, Florida’s GOP governor, and 2024 presidential candidate, toured Iowa before heading to New Hampshire and South Carolina during his “first campaign swing,” The Daily Mail reports.

“Casey DeSantis was the shining star of her husband’s last Iowa campaign stop Wednesday evening as she called the event’ date night’ and lauded Ron as the best person to ‘protect our children,’” the news outlet commented.

After she spoke to the crowd of more than 500 people at the Hawkeye Downs Speedway & Expo Center in Cedar Rapids, Ron DeSantis described his wife as the “best first lady in all 50 states.”

The report emphasizes that some of her lines received “perhaps the biggest cheers” during the hour-long campaign event.

“This is like date night for us tonight,” Casey DeSantis joked.

She added they were glad to be able to speak with people over five years old since their three kids – Madison, 6, Mason, 5, and Mamie, 3, were with Grandma.

Before inviting his wife to the stage, Ron DeSantis joked that she had criticized him for eliminating Florida’s baby product sales taxes after their children had grown past that age.

“When I signed this into law, she said: ‘That’s a great bill. Why didn’t you do that in 2019? That would have saved us a lot of money.’ Well, we didn’t have Biden-flation in 2019, that’s why,” DeSantis declared.

Florida’s governor engaged in an off-script action as he asked the crowd whether they were “happy” with the nation’s direction under Joe Biden.

“Are you happy with having an open border where millions of illegals are pouring in?” DeSantis asked, receiving a “booming” “no” in response.

Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump, who leads DeSantis for the 2024 GOP nomination, ridiculed the latter in a social media post.

“Have you heard that ‘Rob’ DeSanctimonious wants to change his name, again. He is demanding that people call him DeeeSantis, rather than DaSantis. Actually, I like ‘Da’ better, a nicer flow, so I am happy he is changing it,” wrote the former president.
