ICYMI: US Has Boots On the Ground in Ukraine

(DCWatchdog.com) – Contrary to what the Biden administration has said, the United States has “boots on the ground” in Ukraine, which is resisting an all-out Russian invasion, according to recently leaked Defense Department records whose authenticity cannot be verified.

The leak of dozens, or possibly hundreds, of classified Pentagon papers began last month in a Minecraft group on the social media platform Discord. Pundits have commented that at least some of the leaked materials have been manipulated by Russia.

According to information from the exposed documents, as of March 23, about a dozen US special troops were on the ground in Ukraine.

The same papers also reveal that the UK has about 50 troops there, while France and another US NATO ally, Latvia, also have a dozen each, The Washington Post reported, as cited by Newsmax.

The alleged intelligence documents do not reveal the activities or locations of the US and NATO special troops on the ground in Ukraine, which has been fending off Putin’s Russia for almost 14 months now.

The WaPo report hypothesizes, however, that a “potential mission” for US and NATO troops may be the training of Ukraine’s forces ahead of a highly anticipated Ukrainian counteroffensive against the Russian invaders.

As per the leaked papers, the dozen or so American troops in Ukraine are from the US Army Special Forces, known as Green Berets. Their core missions are “internal defense and unconventional warfare.”

The British Defense Ministry, which is claimed to have sent 50 special troops to Ukraine, has warned that the leaked alleged US military intelligence papers have a “serious level of inaccuracy.”

“Readers should be cautious about taking at face value allegations that have the potential to spread disinformation,” the UK Ministry of Defense wrote on Twitter.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has promised to “turn over every rock” to identify the leaker. The Pentagon has made it clear that at least some of the papers have been altered.

According to an AP report, at least 50 records have been leaked, but their total number may be in the hundreds.

“They were somewhere in the web, and where exactly, and who had access at that point, we don’t know. We simply don’t know,” Austin told reporters earlier this week.

“We will continue to investigate and turn over every rock until we find the source of this and the extent of it,” the defense secretary added.

Some of the documents allegedly show that the US is keeping a close watch on how America’s allies and partners are interacting with Communist China and Putin’s Russia.

Those include claims by Russian operatives that Moscow is warming its relations with United Arab Emirates (UAE) or reports that Egypt’s leader has ordered the secret sale of some 40,000 rockets to Russia for its war in Ukraine.

UAE and Egyptian officials have been quick to deny the reports based on the leaked alleged Pentagon documents.
